There is no compromise plan for the Ukraine crisis settlement yet after a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. presidential special envoy Steve Witkoff on Tuesday, reported Xinhua, quoting TASS, citing Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov.
Meanwhile, Putin said that adjustments proposed by Europe to the Ukraine peace plan are aimed at blocking the peace process and are unacceptable to Russia.
"All these changes are aimed at one thing — blocking the entire peace process altogether, putting forward demands that are absolutely unacceptable to Russia," Putin told the press, adding that their goal is to blame Russia for the collapse of this peace process.
He said Russia does not intend to go to war with Europe, "but if Europe suddenly wants to fight us and does, we are ready right now."
Kirill Dmitriev, Russia's top economic envoy, however, said on social media that the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. presidential special envoy Steve Witkoff at the Kremlin was "productive."
Putin met with U.S. presidential special envoy Steve Witkoff in Moscow on Tuesday to discuss ending the conflict with Ukraine.
A U.S.-proposed 28-point "peace plan" was unveiled two weeks ago. Following its release, representatives from the United States, Ukraine and several European countries met in Geneva on Nov. 23 to discuss the plan.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Witkoff held talks on Sunday with a Ukrainian delegation in Hallandale Beach, Florida.
